01/23/2011   TMG Here to Stay, Fear Not!

There seems to be some confusion regarding the resignation of the previous Community Lead of The Merchants' Guild (TMG for short), however I want to assure everyone that the individual previously responsible is not and cannot take the site with them. That individual was one partner out of many in the business to which TMG belongs, and we have other administrators who will be stepping in to fill the void left by that person. TMG as a site and as a business unit will NOT be going anywhere, you can rest assured of that!

We would like to note that the resignation came as a mild shock to us, however we also feel that the prior "Guildmaster" was not taking nearly as much action as possible to lead this community and grow it out and bring it up. Multiple times the business had offered them funds towards advertising and events and we were met with no communication. We did spend significant time canvasing renfaires along the west coast last year, and we will be ramping up and canvasing more this coming renfaire season.

Sadly, few in our existing organization of partners are avid renfaire-goers or LARPers, so we're now looking for a new Community Lead who is well-established in those communities and would like to lead TMG's future PR and marketing strategies, in addition to working with buyers and sellers on the site to ensure their questions, comments, feature requests and difficulties are dealt with and reported back to the central company. If you think you would be a good candidate in that role and would like to help take TMG to the next level, please use the Contact Us link at the bottom of any page to let us know!

Thanks again for your support and for visiting The Merchants' Guild.

11/03/2009   Looking for sellers!

Hey there, ladies and gents! We're looking for more talented crafters and artisans to join our Guild and get some more variety in our offerings! Do you know someone who has a skill? Are you a member of a LARP, Renaissance Faire troupe, or the SCA? Help us spread the word so we can grow and become a strong part of the gaming and re-enactment communities! Tell your friends and encourage them to try it out!

We really appreciate every one of you, and we're glad you've come to join us. Help us keep this place growing and thriving, and we'll continue to be here to serve you and your needs.

10/02/2009   Error 500 on Feedback - FIXED!!

Sorry, folks, it looks like we had a little glitch in the system. A few people were getting Error 500 when trying to leave feedback on an auction. We found the error in the code, and it's all been taken care of - so if you weren't able to leave feedback on something, please try again! It should be working smoothly now.

Thank you to the people who reported this error!

09/09/2009   New - Weekly Auction Tips!

We're going to start doing weekly auction tips every Wednesday on Twitter (merchantsguild) and Facebook! Subscribe or just visit our sites, or you can even set up an easy RSS feed from Twitter, to get regular ideas on how you can improve your auctions, buy and sell better, and more! We hope this comes in handy for all our users, and stay tuned! I'll be posting the first one shortly!

09/03/2009   Welcome to the Grand Opening!!!

Welcome to the Merchants' Guild, the new auction site for LARP, medieval, Renaissance Faire, and SCA goods! Please, take a look around, create your FREE account, and check out all the various features and pages!

I know the site looks a bit bare now, certainly not the mass confusion of major sites like eBay, but give it time and keep coming back. It takes time for a good site to grow and build, and we're confident that soon this will become your one-source stop for rare, handcrafted, and/or one-of-a-kind items for all your medieval hobbies! Also please tell your friends, and share with others! Since we're a free site, our only advertising is word of mouth...

Also, yes, there will be some things not quite perfect. This IS a new site. For example, our Forums are not yet working... But we have a LiveJournal page and a FaceBook page where you can post and hold conversations instead! There might be other things, like missing images or "legacy" items from a previous site (this site was based off of another successful auction site's code)... If you find any missing images or references to "furry" or "FurBuy", don't panic, and just let us know!

Thank you for visiting, and we hope you love the site! Oh, and if you have any suggestions, we're always ready to listen! Just send us an email!
